FIA Conference 2026 - Myth Smashers Speaker Expression of Interest
We are now looking for the next emerging ‘Myth Smashers!’ star, ready to take to the stage at the 2026 FIA Conference. Myth Smashers is always one of the most popular sessions at the FIA Conference, because fundraisers just love to support emerging talent.
In conjunction with More Strategic and SOFII, Myth Smashers is a fast paced, dynamic ‘plenary’ session where new and emerging voices from the sector, have the opportunity to present for just six minutes, on the biggest myth they heard when beginning their careers in fundraising.
If you are currently a fundraising practitioner in charitable organisation and have never presented on the biggest stage at a conference before, but are keen to have a go, this is your opportunity - whilst sharing your fundraising ‘smarts’ at the same time.
Your aim is to inspire the audience with your insights and smash your myth. Once everyone has presented, we ask the audience to vote on the best topic and presentation. The winner will receive a free registration to the FIA Conference 2027, including the opportunity to host Myth Smashers themselves. The winner will also be asked to write up the case study to be published on the SOFII website. Check out our past Myth Smashers here http://sofii.org/article/sofii-presents-meet-the-fundraising-myth-smashers.
Those selected to take part will also have the chance to be mentored by a top fundraising expert - all of whom are experienced conference presenters. They will help coach you to create the most powerful presentation possible.
We particularly welcome submissions and ideas from those individuals with diverse lived experience, and/ or which incorporate topics related to diversity, equity and inclusion. At FIA, we are committed to reflecting the diversity of our membership and fundraising communities, whilst understanding the need for fundraisers to be aware of the changing social and political climate in which we operate.
Applications close Friday 14 November 2025, at 5.00pm AEDT.
