Welcome to the 2025 AVA Conference
We are excited to announce that for the first time in more than 20 years, the AVA Conference will be held in Sydney, NSW, at the International Convention Centre.
The 2025 AVA Conference theme is 'Cutting Through'. A lineup of international and local experts in surgery and cutting-edge veterinary medicine will help bring this topical theme to life.
Our keynote speakers include
- renowned oncological small animal surgeon Dr Greg Ogilvie (US),
- veterinary animal behaviourist and Human-Animal Bond researcher Professor Jaume Fatjo (ESP),
- veterinary dentist Dr Crystal Loh (NZ), and
- the ever popular Australian small animal surgeon Dr Chris Tan (AUS), will take delegates on a learning journey throughout the week.
Plenary sneak peak
In line with the conference theme, the Tuesday plenary will examine the opportunities and pitfalls of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Veterinary Medicine with our plenary panel of Drs Tom Brownlie, Diana Barker and Steve Joslyn, facilitated by Dr Gerardo Poli.
On Wednesday, we will discuss how we can thrive outside of our comfort zone with high-performance coach and plenary speaker Mark McKeon.
On Thursday, the 2025 Ben Cunneen Memorial Plenary will examine the future of One Health with Dr Kendall Crocker, the Assistant Director of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
The AVA Conference is not just a learning experience; it is also a platform for professional networking and engagement. Throughout the week, it offers a multitude of social functions, from university alumni dinners to Special Interest Group (SIG) functions, providing ample opportunities to reconnect with old colleagues and meet new ones.
Moreover, the AVA Conference boasts the largest collection of sponsors and exhibitors on the AVA calendar, offering a glimpse into the latest products and innovations in the field. Don't miss the chance to explore the exhibition and attend our popular sponsored breakfast sessions.
