There are many things coming "down the pipeline" about prebiotics, probiotics, synbiotics, and faecal microbial transplants. These treatments, along with dietary manipulation, for acute and chronic diarrhea are the future of novel treatments for animal gut health and may serve as an alternative or adjunctive to medications. The explosion of microbiome research in human and animal medicine has revealed that gastrointestinal microbes are associated with many different diseases including immune mediated, allergic disease, and kidney disease. Does the thought of an impending skin case make you want to tear your hair out? Fear not! Dermatology is easy, and in this session, we'll show you some strategies that will take the pain out of the initial management of skin disease. You'll learn what to do, what not to do, and how to get the patient and client on track to managing their pet's skin disease for the long term; and without messing things up for whoever sees the case next - who knows, it might even be you!
