In 2019, SEA was proud to announce the West Coast Eagles Football Club (AFL) as the winner of the #SEAChanger award. The Eagles were recognised for their hugely successful 'Re-think your Waste' campaign, in which the club engaged with their fan base about the importance of responsible waste disposal. In their 2019 'Re-think your Waste' match, contamination of recycling bins at Optus Stadium was reduced from 52% to 16%.
This year, we are again celebrating the good work being done across our communities to minimise our environmental impact. Sport is a vehicle for social and environmental good, and your efforts, big or small, to reduce energy, water and material use should be lauded.
The #SEAChanger Award will be announced at our networking drinks in June 2021, once public gathering restrictions have been lifted. This will give delegates another opportunity to gain knowledge about the good work already happening and celebrate the achievements of sporting clubs, venues/facilities and organising bodies, who make efforts to minimise their environmental footprint.
