If you want to learn how to have meaningful conversations with your clients feeding raw and home prepared food, this is the workshop for you. A whole day talking about food!

Learn from Drs Kelly Halls and Barbara Royal (and others) how to discuss with authority the merits of different diet choices for dogs and cats. We will cover the basics of nutrition calculations and how to formulate a well-balanced, fresh-food diet. Don’t freak out; no heavy maths as there is good software to use. You will learn how to apply this knowledge not just for healthy animals but also to some commonly encountered chronic ailments. You will leave the workshop armed with the tools of how to feed your patients better and feel more confidence talking with clients about non-commercial diets.

Attendees will refresh and review perineural and intrasynovial diagnostic anaesthesia of the distal limb and the head. This will include an anatomical review, needle selection, appropriate volume, and top tips.   

The wetlab will be very hands-on, working in small groups with a cadaver distal limbs and heads. There will be a high ratio of circulating specialists/experienced clinicians to allow plenty of opportunity to practice and master the injections and review anatomy. Learn hands-on how to test for synovial communication with wounds, identifying septic joints and lavage techniques in the field will be practiced.  Learn the first steps in localising lameness in the horse, when to use a nerve block and which anaesthetics to use. What to look for in a horses mouth and how to examine the equine eye effectively using anaesthesia.  Collaborative and open discussions between instructors and attendees on clinical experiences and preferences will be encouraged.  This is one not to miss, cant wait to see you in Melbourne.

A visit to the Zoo isn’t complete without a safari through the savannah! Once on board you will be transported through arid landscapes and savannah grasslands to explore the open plains and learn about some of the world’s most endangered species. The 40-minute Safari Tour includes live commentary from a Safari Guide as you move through the grasslands of Asia, North America and Africa, spotting bison, antelope, rhino, zebra and ostrich.

Price includes coach transfer from the MCEC return, zoo entry, packed lunch, safari adventure and exploring the zoo at your leisure.

SCGV Lifetime Ewe Management Train the Trainer Workshop

Lifetime Ewe Management (LTEM) is a highly-regarded program run by Australian Wool Innovation for producers. Pillars of the LTEM program include animal health, nutrition and welfare. This 'train the trainer' workshop will allow vets to upskill in presenting LTEM courses to sheep producers, assisting them to tap into an available, high quality industry resource and existing customer base.

The workshop will be held at a sheep property near Melbourne, encompassing both theoretical and practical components. Catering and coach transfers to and from Melbourne CBD are included in the price.

AVPH Veterinary Vigilance: Fortifying Your Practice with Proactive Outbreak Prevention Workshop

Veterinarians and veterinary staff are exposed to disease risks on a daily basis. How do we manage these? In this workshop, we are utilising a One Health focus to deliver practical strategies and training for management of risks around disease transmission to protect our staff, clients, patients and veterinarians in all types of clinical, field and environmental practice.

The workshop will have a small group focus on strategies around the importance of hand hygiene and the management of AMR, the importance of respiratory protection and proper fit of masks, needleless connectors (their use and maintenance) and types of protective clothing available, their appropriate use, and donning and doffing properly.
