Ultrasound Workshop | Katie Garrett

kindly sponsored by Radincon

Saturday 20 July | Lectures at Rydges Resort, Lovedale

Sunday 21 July | Practical workshop at Scone Equine Hospital

Buses will be provided to transport to workshop from Rydges to Scone on Sunday.

Improve your practical ultrasound skills with experienced specialists and tutors. The workshop gives you significant "hands on" scanning time of common areas impacted by musculoskeletal injuries as well as the larynx. Learn practical skills that you can take straight back into your clinical practice for your own clients. Laryngeal ultrasound is a relatively new area and is a useful adjunctive modality to upper airway endoscopy for conditions such as recurrent laryngeal neuropathy and arytenoid chondritis.

    What you will learn:

    • Larynx, Katie Garrett: Revise normal anatomy of the larynx so you can identify common upper respiratory abnormalities.
    • Metacarpus, Penny Dow: Most common musculoskeletal area scanned in daily practice. Revise normal tendon and ligament anatomy including proximal suspensory.
    • Stifle, Alex Young: An anatomically complicated area with multiple soft tissue structures. Ultrasonography gives you different information to radiography and can greatly enhance your diagnostic ability.
    • Pelvis, Sue Jones: How to perform a complete pelvis scan including approaches to sacroiliac and lumbosacral injections.
    • Pastern, Kirsten Neil: Superficial and deep digital flexor tendon anatomy and oblique and straight sesamoidan ligaments.
    • Metatarsus, Roger Smith: Revise differences to metacarpus and how to get a better image of the proximal suspensory including non weight bearing views.
